It all began like so many stories of entrepreneurship: with a kitchen table, a project, and a dream or two. Jenn Tilley was juggling side work for a small business while still showing up fully as a Project Manager and Financial Controller. Yet her passion for helping small businesses tackle issues within their bookkeeping and recordkeeping processes couldn’t remain hidden forever. Word of mouth about Jenn’s excellent service and deep professional expertise grew the business quickly, moving her from just one client in 2016 to four clients in less than a year’s time.

A growing business deserves a promotion, so Jenn took things from the kitchen table to an office desk set up in the bedroom. From there, it was time to take the leap: in December 2017, she went full-time as a business owner. In fact, the company she worked for valued her services enough to sign a contract for ongoing project management and bookkeeping services.

Jenn’s deep focus on bookkeeping, payroll, remittances, GST returns, and fundamental financial analysis continued to grow the company to new heights.

Jenn Tilley Accounting Services is now an incorporated company far beyond that first kitchen table in beautiful Belnan, Nova Scotia. Not only does she have a dedicated home office in lovely Enfield, Nova Scotia, she also has a team that’s equally dedicated to the mission.

Jenn’s deep focus on bookkeeping, payroll, remittances, GST returns, and fundamental financial analysis continued to grow the company to new heights.

Meet Jenn

Behind the accounting practice is Jenn Tilley herself, a proud Newfoundlander with a quiet determination to do what’s right every time. Coming from a deep rural community where teamwork is the name of the game, this small town pro knew it would take patience and hard work to bring busy business owners real accounting solutions they could trust.

When she isn’t busy helping clients start, grow, and refine their businesses, she is focused on her family, including four children with their own range of hobbies and sports. As a wife, mother, and business owner, she knows how important it is to give the various aspects of life genuine attention and focus.

Her passion for blending day-to-day accounting and bookkeeping services with business coaching, support, and advice makes her a unique member of her profession. Jenn’s past community involvement includes working with Girl Guides of Canada, the Yarmouth Association for Community Residential Options (in support of children with disabilities), and serving as a team manager in the East Hants Minor Hockey Association for six years.

Overall, Jenn’s accounting and financial management education has built a solid foundation upon which to grow her business. She graduated with a Financial Management diploma from Dalhousie University, one of Canada’s leading public universities.

Meet Mark

Mark was born and raised in Newfoundland and thought he would never leave; but thanks to Nova Scotia and Hants County, he will never move back. As the company’s lead business advisor, he has a genuine passion for working with entrepreneurs. From helping them navigate challenges and opportunities to watching them experience each success milestone, Mark takes genuine satisfaction in his role as a business advisor. 

A graduate of Memorial University, Mark has worked with both a local Community Business Development Corporation as well as the Business Development Bank of Canada, supporting small business owners for more than 15 years.

Mark is unique in his approach and wants to create a relationship built on comfort, trust, and even friendship. Whether it is business attire, casual dress, or jeans and a T-shirt, Mark loves working at a level most comfortable for his clients.

Mark loves spending time with his wife Jenn and their kids and finds great happiness in watching them dance, play basketball, or simply go for a ride together in the woods on the family’s side-by-side. 

Mark’s desire to help others extends beyond work as well, including 15+ years coaching minor hockey and a stint working with the QEII Foundation to help improve health care for all Atlantic Canadians.

What’s a team without a friendly office supervisor? She may only be six years old right now, but she’s along for the ride. When things get busy in the office, this high-energy pup is on the case! She’s happy to wait for petting time, but not too long. She is still a puppy at heart. 

Who can be genuinely stressed when the golden retriever nudges you for cuddles and love?
